Chancellor's office, Berlin
In 2007, the facade facing the Spree River required renovation. Casting faults not eliminated during the construction process and water marks became increasingly apparent as a result of dirt deposits. The removal of the uppermost cement paste layer when sand-blasting off the graffiti protection resulted in stark changes in the material colour, so that once cosmetic and touch-up work had been completed, the affected areas had to be matched to the other exposed concrete surfaces by applying several coats of lasuring.
The main guard house was renovated in 2011 and once again the exposed concrete affected had to be enhanced, touched up and lasured.
